Nick Barber 09 Sep 2010IFA: Android powered GoGear PMP from Philips
Philips hopes to give devices like Apple’s iPod Touch some competition with the announcement of the Go Gear Connect, and Android powered device that can play music, movies, surf the web and access the Android Market
It has WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth and microSD slot apart from the built-in 32GB memory. It also has preloaded applications like Google Talk, Gmail, Google Maps and other apps. Philips says that the battery lasts for up to 25 hours of audio or 5 hours of video playback. It has a resistive touchscreen instead of a capacitive one. That means you need to press slightly harder on the screen vs a device like an ipod touch.
It will be available in the US and Europe in the coming weeks for 249 Euro or about 320 US dollars.
