Free iPhone Productivity Apps

Apple’s online iTunes Store has a ton of iPhone, iPod touch and iPad apps ranging on different topics and interest. We have shortlisted a few productivity apps for your iPhone, iPod touch that you will find useful while on the go. And the best part? They’re all free! So read up and waste no time in clicking on the link below the app description to download it from the Apple App Store -- you got nothing to lose.

Dropbox:
Dropbox iPhone AppA very useful app to have on your iPhone or iPod touch, Dropbox offers a cool service that lets you save and sync files online, so that they're always accessible from multiple computers -- as long as they are connected to the Web. You can view all kinds of files through Dropbox for iPhone -- Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations -- even browse photos and watch videos.

Browsing photos and videos from your Dropbox is very snappy in the app. You can forget that the files are being pulled over the air, and not simply sitting directly on your iPhone.

Dropbox makes it a snap to e-mail files. Tapping the e-mail button creates a new message without exiting the Dropbox app. But unfortunately the app doesn't let you edit your files, though. However, its core feature of letting you access and store files to and from your iPhone over the Web -- at no cost at all -- is a very good start.

Evernote:
The Evernote app lets you capture four types of notes: Text, snapshots that you take with your iPhone's camera, photos already on your camera, and voice notes that you record from within the Evernote application.
Evernote iPhone app
Evernote's search tools are snappy and they highlight what, for me, is one of Evernote’s most intriguing features: its ability to recognize text found in images you’ve uploaded. What’s missing from the Evernote app that I’d really like to see added is the document-editing capabilities available on the Evernote Web site and in the desktop app when you have a paid account.

Simplenote:
Simplenote aims to provide a high quality experience with a simplistic note-taking process. One of Simplenote’s most attractive features is its clean and easy-to-use interface.
Simplenote iPhone App
Simplenote uses an extremely simple but functional text-editing window. In addition to the text entry field, there app provides buttons for e-mailing a copy of the note and trashing the document. Simplenote is by far superior to the iPhone’s built-in Notes app; I now turn to Simplenote for most of my note taking. For jotting down quick notes, ideas, and bursts of information, Simplenote performs beautifully.

Box.net:
Box.net and its free iPhone application aim to bring your documents to you while on the go. For beginners, Box.net has a free 1GB storage plan that you can opt for. Box.net on the iPhone and iPod touch supports most major file types, displays documents, and plays Box.net iPhone appMP3s and MP4 videos in a horizontal window similar to the iPhone’s YouTube app.

Box.net's iPhone client lets users of the online storage service easily access their files while on the go. It’s a convenient option for iPhone and iPod touch owners with remote storage needs.

reQall:
This is a handy, well designed to-do list manager from QTech that lets you speak or type reminders into your iPhone. reQall then organizes those notes, sends you reminders, and syncs events with with iCal, Google Calendar, and Outlook; it can also link to related reQall iPhone appitems in Evernote.

How does it work? Put your iPhone to your ear with reQall open and you'll feel a gentle buzz telling you that reQall is ready to listen. Tell reQall to "game night tomorrow," then pull the phone away from your ear and reQall will buzz again, letting you know that it’s heard what you've said and is going to work.

SktechBook MobileX
One of the better painting and drawing apps on the iPhone, and one of the most useful creative tools we've seen, SketchBook Mobile is an indispensable tool if you are a real artist. For everyone else, it is a SketchBook MobileX iPhone appfun diversion and extremely easy to use.

SketchBook Mobile is from Autodesk and allows a wide variety of editing and drawing options, including layer support, wide variety of brushes -- let's you control radius, opacity, etc. In many ways, the real brilliance of this app is all about the iPhone’s touch-screen interface. It is so accurate, and so fast at rendering what you draw, you can add fine touches to an image.

GoodReader Lite
:
If you need to read huge PDF, or TXT files, you've come to the right place. Faithful users of GoodReader have reported flawless performance with files over 1GB in size; but that's only one of the many features that makes GoodReader the best app of its kind.

You can download files from your computer over Wi-Fi, Internet or as email attachments. GoodReader supports massive PDF and TXT files, but it can also handle all of the most popular file types: MS Office - .doc, .ppt, .xls and more; High-res images; It even does audio and video! Skype:
The iOS Skype experience of today is much, much better than its previous avatars. Thanks to iOS 4 and its vastly improved support for multitasking, you can receive calls and instant messages in Skype even when the app isn't running.Skype iPhone app

You can receive calls from your Skype buddies, too. And again, as we mentioned at the outset, you can receive calls when Skype isn't even active, since iOS 4 lets the app run in the background. That also means you can exit the app -- say, to check an e-mail for details -- while on a Skype call, without disconnecting. The app can genuinely help heavy talkers save minutes by placing very cheap calls via the Internet.

Instapaper Free:
Instapaper remains one of the easiest-to-use iPhone apps we've encountered. After signing up for a free account at Instapaper's Web site, simply add a "Read Later" bookmarklet to your Web browser and click it anytime you want to read an article later. Then when you launch the Instapaper app, the stories you saved will download automatically to your handheld. Instapaper iPhone appYou can also open any story in Safari if you have an Internet connection.

You can add feeds, which will update automatically when you launch the app at the same time your saved stories are downloading. You can also easily archive and file articles using Instapaper. Another nice addition is a folder labeled "Give Me Something To Read," which imports stories that other Instapaper users have found interesting.
