Acer, Asus, HP, Lenovo lineup dual-core Atom N550 netbooks

Not long after Intel officially unveiled its dual-core Atom N550 1.5-GHz processor last week, did rumors start surfacing about OEMs planning to launch netbooks equipped with the 1.5-GHz Atom N550 dual-core processor.

The Acer Aspire One D255 -- showcased earlier this month with dual-booting Android and Windows XP OSes -- is slated to feature the dual-core Intel Atom N550 1.5-GHz processor. The Aspire One AOD255 netbook has a 10.1-inch LED-backlit screen, 1GB RAM, 250GB hard drive, and Intel GMA 3150 graphics. The Acer Aspire One D255 netbook goes on sale this September in the U.S -- no official word on India release date.

Asus is gearing up a new Eee PC netbook with the Intel Atom N550 dual-core processor. Dubbed the Asus Eee PC 1015PEM, the 10-inch netbook will have 1GB RAM, 250GB hard drive, and come with Windows 7 Starter edition installed. Apart from the 1.5-GHz Intel Atom N550 processor, the Eee PC 1015PEM will also reportedly include Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 3.0 support. The Asus Eee PC 1015PEM netbook will launch in Europe in October, no official India release date yet.

HP is also hopping on the early Atom N550 netbook bandwagon. The HP Mini 5103 will be the first HP Mini netbook to feature the dual-core 1.5-GHz Intel Atom N550 processor. The HP Mini 5103 will also have 2GB RAM and up to 250GB hard drive space. Graphics will be handled by Onboard Intel GMA 3150 graphics adapter on the HP Mini 5103 netbook. The netbook will go on sale in the U.S. this September.

Lenovo has also confirmed that it will soon unveil a version of its popular Ideapad S10-3 netbook featuring the new dual-core Intel Atom N550 1.5-GHz processor. With 1GB RAM, 250GB hard drive, and a 10-inch screen, the new Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3s will have a six-cell battery and Windows 7 Starter edition operating system.
