Liquid, Acer's first Android based mobile phone was given its India launch today at a press conference in Bangalore.

The press conference was addressed by Richard Tan, Acer Country Head India. The press meet consisted of a brief presentation and a Q&A and product demo for the members of the media.

The Acer Liquid is the first phone in the world that pairs up Google's Android mobile OS with Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor (the same processor used by the Google Nexus One). The phone uses v1.6 of Android (known as Donut) and also includes Acer's customized tweaks to the primary OS. The phone has a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen and supports Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS.

The Liquid looks elegant and quite similar to Acer's own neoTouch, albeit with a smaller screen and overall build. Interestingly, the Liquid sports a capacitive touchscreen but the in the little time that I got to use the phone, the touch navigation seemed inconsistent. Hopefully, once the phone comes into our labs for testing, I will be able to give the touch UI a much more thorough workout.

The Acer Liquid is priced at Rs. 24,990. A review should be up shortly on the website.
