Apple iOS4.1 Out, Hacker Confirms Vulnerability

iOS4

So iOS4.1 is released and it is available for downloads for iPhone and iPod Touch users. Apple has addressed 24 security issues in this iOS4.1 version.l While users have just started experiencing its new features, iPhone hacker, pod2g of Chronic Dev Team found a bootrom based exploit which still shows the new iO4.1's vulnerability. Earlier the same hacker found the 24kpwn exploit which enabled users to jailbreak their iPhone/iPod Touch before. Now with the new exploits reported by pod2g, users can change boot and recovery mode logos etc. iPhone Dev Team and Chronic Dev Team reported on their Twitter page. And pod2g even confirmed that the exploit worked on the iOS 4.1.

While this seems like good news for Jailbreaking community, hackers reported that much work still needs to be done and it will be quite awhile before the public release is out.

Even though Apple is touting all the new features on the iOS4.1, how it will respond to block this exploit is going to be tough as patching bootroms required revising the hardware version of the device.
