Apple Launches iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod Touch

Apple has launched the version iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod with many bug fixes and new features. Apple claims that it also has made many performance improvements for the users of iPhone and iPod Touch. The new stuffs include FaceTime calling from the iPhone app's Favorites tab and access to Game Center. Also if you are using Bluetooth accessories then the audio quality has been improved. Apple has also fixed around 20 loopholes in the Webkit framework alone. Many other pending security issues have been fixed as well. But apart from these let us see other important features that the upgraded operating system offers.

Proximity Sensor
Apple has fixed the problem related with the proximity sensor. The problem with the proximity sensory was that when you bring the iPhone close to your face while making the call, the proximity sensor failed to detect it. Thus, users used to holding their phone very close to face ended up pressing keys on the phone, including the end call key. Apple has fixed the problem and now the proximity sensor detects when the phone comes close to face and automatically locks the keypad, just as it should have been.

TV Show Rentals
Apple now allows users to rent a TV show from the iTunes Store in as cheap as 99 cents. This is a good decision by Apple, as many users never watch the episodes more than once. Users will save some money by not buying the entire series.

HD Video Uploads Over Wi-Fi
iPhone and iPod users faced a problem of uploading HD video over Wi-Fi to YouTube and MobileMe, as Apple didn’t allow users to do so. But now Apple has changed its decision and now users can easily upload HD video over Wi-Fi.

High Dynamic Range photo
The High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo combines three photos captured in quick succession. HDR then takes best part of all these three images into one image. The final image is better than one image taken.
