Apple Tumbles Four Places in Greenpeace Rankings
27 Oct 2010Apple might be used to the top spots in most lists but they've slipped to ninth in Greenpeace's green electronics guide rankings. However the drop to ninth place from last year's fifth, didn't happen because the Cupertino company suddenly went evil but rather because Greenpeace felt that Apple hadn't been clear about their future plans to remove harmful chemicals from their manufacturing process.
Nokia and Sony Ericsson top the rankings in Greenpeace's Guide to Greener Electronics followed by Philips, companies that have phased out use of substances like PVC and BFR (brominated flame retardants). The best overall performance has been from Samsung who has jumped eight places to fifth from thirteenth and HP who jumped four places from eighth to fourth.
You can check out the complete list of companies according to their ranking on Greenpeace's official website.
