A Bizarre event has been reported in Assam, where 30 cases of mobile phone explosion have been uncovered and 20 people have been admitted in hospital. Mobile phone explosion is a known menace as many Nokia phones have exploded due to faulty battery in the past. But what makes these cases bizarre is that victims claim that they have received a call from a number highlighted in red color. After picking the call, the phone explodes in to pieces.

Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi, has ordered a probe into the matter. People who have picked the call have reported nausea, severe headache and some received physical bruises due to the cell phone explosion. The Police told IANS, that earlier they believed the exploding phones were cheap Chinese phones, but the exploding phones include brands like Nokia, Samsung and Motorola.

This bizarre event has been name Bombile and has scared many users in Assam, who have even switched off their phones. Many users are sending messages with few listed number and a message saying don't pick calls from the following numbers as these calls come in red colors and you may get brain hemorrhage due to high frequency.

As far as we know, this is all just a way to spread fear in the mind of the people. Similar incident has happened in Kenya and Cambodia where people claimed that they received a call from a red number. Post this incident the Communications Commission of Kenya had issued the following statement, "Upon analysis of the messages, the Commission has established the warnings are a hoax generated by unscrupulous people bent on causing fear and despondency among members of the public. The listed numbers are non-existent as mobile, fixed or international lines. In addition, the alleged hemorrhage due to high frequency has no technical basis whatsoever."

The text message sent in Kenya and in India is exactly the same. We have no clue between the red number scam and 30 cases of cell phone explosion reported in Assam. Further investigation by police will surely bring the truth forward.
