Coming soon: First Android 2.1 Garmin-Asus Smartphone with GPS
10 Sep 2010Popular for making phones with a focus on GPS navigation, Garmin-Asus are geared to launch their first Android smartphone in India -- rumored to be the Garmin-Asus A10.
Garmin is well-known for making standalone GPS navigation devices -- Garmin nuvi 215 -- and its collaboration with Asus results in smartphones with a special focus on GPS navigation. Like the Garmin-Asus Nuvifone M10 GPS phone, only it had Windows Mobile 6.5 OS.
The soon-to-be-launched Garmin-Asus phone (most likely the Garmin-Asus A10) is based on Android 2.1 operating system and claims to offer superior battery. The new Garmin-Asus A10 Android 2.1 smartphone claims to offer 5-hours of talktime on a single charge and it has 4GB built-in storage.
The upcoming Android 2.1 Garmin-Asus GPS smartphone has a 5MP camera, it carries Smart3 tag from Garmin-Asus M10 phone. The Garmin-Asus (A10) smartphone has built-in point of interest (POI) and real-time info on weather, gas prices, flight status, etc. The Garmin-Asus' new Android 2.1 smartphone claims a "first to fix time" (or GPS signal lock from a cold boot) of 29 seconds.
The new Garmin-Asus Android 2.1 smartphone with GPS navigation will be approximately priced between Rs. 20,000 to R. 22,000. In all probability, the unnamed Garmin-Asus smartphone is the A10 -- check out the Garmin-Asus A10's review.
