Bing Social announced it will now serve real-time trending topics and updates from social networking site Facebook along with Twitter updates.

Microsoft had reached an agreement last year with Twitter and Facebook that it would dish up hot trending topics and updates from the popular social networks. But with the impending launch of Bing Social, the software giant has created a separate section on its Bing search engine page to show latest updates for a search query from its partnership with the two social networks, Facebook and Twitter.

Details on how Bing Social will work were released in an update on Bing Community. Bing Social revealed that it determines trending topics from Facebook's aggregated data feed, Fan pages, and public profile updates. Microsoft claims that it won't show non-Fan page data and results won't be tracked down to any individual Facebook user since it will be in aggregated data form -- this is to fend off any privacy concerns users may have.

Bing's homepage is getting a fresh redesign in the wake of Bing Social, whereby the search engine's homepage displays improved trending topics from both Facebook and Twitter.

Last we checked, the Bing Social Beta page is up and running, after a minor snag that had the service down for some time.
