Gmail conversation view: disable it now
30 Sep 2010Apart from offering 1GB of free email stroage, a key differentiator between Gmail -- when it was launched back in April 2004 -- Yahoo and Hotmail, was Gmail's email conversation view.
However, most of Gmail users took onto the conversational email view -- where every back and forth email exchanged as part of a conversation is clubbed together a single subject line -- traditional webmail and email client users (like Microsoft Outlook) preferred every email to be displayed separately.
To keep them happy, Gmail has finally allowed users to disable conversation email view in their Gmail inbox. To disable conversation Gmail email view, go to Settings in your Gmail inbox and click on the 'Conversation view off' radio button.
Emails appearing in Gmail's Priority inbox feature also get affected by turning off conversation view. Google Apps users who have pre-release features enabled in their Google Apps email will also get the ability to disable conversation view.
