Gmail's Newest Feature: The Priority Inbox

Google has begun an interesting experiment in Gmail called Priority Inbox that will automatically put “important” mails at the top of the inbox so that users spend lesser time sifting through their e-mails.

Gmail decides on which e-mails are important using an algorithm that takes into consideration the number of e-mails you have received from the sender, the e-mails you have responded to and a manual ranking system that lets you customize the level of importance of an e-mail.

Priority Inbox changes the way your inbox looks and divides it into three sections- the top one with the important e-mails, the middle one with starred e-mails and the last section with all other e-mails. Users who opt for Priority Inbox can at anytime toggle back to their regular inbox too.

All individual Gmail users should be getting the option to access this feature in the coming days.
