07 Apr 2011
The HTC Desire S smartphone which runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS is finally out in India, after HTC revealed the Incredible S late last month. HTC now has the Desire, Desire HD, Desire Z, Incredible S and Wildfire -- along with the HTC Desire S -- available for Android smartphone enthusiasts in India.
The HTC Desire S is a noteworthy smartphone because it comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS -- the first HTC phone to offer that. And in many ways, the Desire S is a natural progression of the original HTC Desire. There are some striking similarities on the HTC Desire S -- it has the same 3.7-inch display screen, comes with SLCD screen with Gorilla Glass at a 480x800 pixel resolution.
The HTC Desire S is made out of a single block of aluminum, claims the company. It comes with a 1-GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor, 1.1GB internal phone memory and 768MB of RAM. There's also a 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash, it can record 720p video at 30fps. There's a front facing VGA camera as well on the HTC Desire S.
Apart from Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Desire S comes with HTC Sense UI. The phone also supports 3G HSDPA, HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1 wireless protocol. The HTC Desire S is DLNA compliant and comes with a microSD slot to expand its memory up to 32GB.
HTC Desire S: Price, Availability
The HTC Desire is priced at Rs. 25,490 and now available at all authorized HTC resellers across the country.
