JantaKhoj, an online people search engine has announced that it now has a listing of 500 million publicly available records of Indians. The portal offers information of a person's age, gender, address, phone numbers, relatives and neighbors for free. The portal also allows you to verify a person's information further by paying a fee. You can find out a person's education, employment and criminal records also through this portal. But you need to have a bit of information of the person you are looking for in order to get further verification.

The service looks good, but I don't know if I am the only one who is a bit paranoid that my information is available online and anyone can find my address, telephone number, neighbors and relatives. The information is taken from publicly available record, that might be BSNL landline, voter's card, ration card or other government based services.
