Microsoft Launches New Version of Security Essentials

Microsoft has announced the launch of beta of new version of Microsoft Security Essentials. PCs running genuine windows can take advantage of this security software which protects the computer against viruses, spyware, and other malicious software for free. Microsoft Security Essentials was released last year in September.

The new features of Microsoft Security Essentials include the option to turn the Windows firewall on or off. Microsoft has also integrated it with Internet Explorer to provide better Web based threat protection. Brandon LeBlanc of Microsoft explained on the official blog that the new version of Microsoft Security Essentials has an updated anti-malware engine, which offers enhanced detection and cleanup capabilities. Also, Microsoft has now included network inspection system inside the new version of Microsoft Security Essentials. But the blog also says that this network inspection system will not be available for Windows XP.
