Nokia has launched its own browser for mobile phone, the Ovi browser. Nokia aims to topple Opera Mini's dominance as the preferred web browser for mobile. Currently, the browser just supports Series 40, and even in that not all handsets. The main advantage that Nokia claims with this browser is that it is capable of reducing the data usage by 90 percent.

Other features of Nokia Ovi browser include a form and URL auto completion form, three view modes - full page view, zoomed-in view, column view. Nokia Ovi browser lets you select from a list of search engines. It allows you to scroll the web page using numeric keys. It also has page segmentation in column view for navigation.

Nokia Beta Labs blog says that a newer beta version will be launched soon with more features and localized version. If you want to try out the Ovi browser then go to browser.ovi.com from your Series 40 phone. You can check here if your handset supports the Nokia Ovi browser here.
