Nokia Ovi Brand Scrapped
16 May 2011
Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has decided to shut the door on Ovi brand of services. These services will now be rechristened as Nokia services in a transition expected to continue into 2012.
The Ovi ('door' in Finnish) brand has a host of internet services including as messaging, maps, media, games and music. NokiaâÂÂs EVP and Chief Marketing Officer, Jerri DeVard said, "We have made the decision to change our service branding from Ovi to Nokia. By centralizing our services identity under one brand, not two, we will reinforce the powerful master brand of Nokia and unify our brand architecture â while continuing to deliver compelling opportunities and experiences for partners and consumers alike."
Customers who already own a Nokia phone will see this change through future software updates.
