Nvidia GeForce LAN Now For Indian Gamers
22 Sep 2011
Now in India after having run five editions in the US earlier, the Nvidia GeForce LAN gaming tournament is beckoning Indian gamers. Being held in Mumbai on October 14th, Shahrukh Khan will crown the winner the "Ultimate Gamer", and award prizes in a grand closing ceremony. Upto a thousand gamers will compete in an enormous virtual combat zone, to win prizes worth Rs. 10 Lakh.
According to the registration page, multiple games are available, including special tracks dedicated to female players. The tournament will be configured as a LAN party where gamers can play on custom Nvidia PCs outfitted with GeForce GTX graphics processors. While the current event will be held in Mumbai, note that interested players located anywhere in India are welcome to come over.
Have a passion for PC gaming and want to dominate the GeForce LAN? Register soon with your name and your Team/Clan name if applicable, entry is free. The day's Schedule and details about the event can be looked up on the registration page. Nvidia's page informs that measures will be taken to allow a fair chance to everybody - the first step is to register, and registered players who show up at the venue sooner will have a better chance (venue gates open at 8AM).
At the time of writing, games available in the Tournament include Need For Speed and FIFA 11 on the single player side; besides Call of Duty 4 and Counter Strike 1.6 for Team gameplay. At least a few of these games have been around for a while, perhaps for all participants to get a good shot.
The event's release quoted Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan as commenting, "Gaming has always been a passion for me, so I’m excited to be part of GeForce LAN. The event is going to be a paradise for gamers, and I can't wait to personally challenge some of the players to a few rounds. You never know, I might just walk away with a few of those prizes myself!"
Vishal Dhupar, Managing Director Asia South for NVIDIA, said "Gaming is in NVIDIA's soul. Our cutting edge technologies allow enthusiasts to play games with eye-popping graphics and the latest effects for an immersive adrenaline rush like nothing else. Now, with GeForce LAN India, we're bringing together the people who share our passion for this electronic sport. Like other athletes, their skills deserve to be recognised and rewarded. Let the games begin!"
