Samsung Floods Mobile Market With 8 New Phones

Samsung has been busy this week launching a barrage of new phones and smartphones. We decided to bring them all under one roof. The new mobile phones include: B7722, Wave 2, Wave 2 Pro, Galaxy 3, Galaxy 5, Galaxy Beam, Omnia Pro 4, Omnia Pro 5. So here are the specifications of all the phones one by one.

Samsung B7722

The Samsung B7722 is a dual SIM touchscreen device with 3.2 inch display. Usually dual SIM mobile phones are targeted at the lower budget phones. But this phone is an exception and might be the first high end dual SIM phone. This phone supports 3G GSM and Class 12 GPRS (4+1/3+2/2+3/1+4 slots) 32 - 48 kbps, Class 12 EDGE. In terms of camera, it has a 5 megapixel camera, and supports video recording at QVGA resolutions (30 fps). The B7722 has a Li-Ion 1200 mAhbattery and has 420 hours of standby time and a talk time of up to 12 hours 50 min. Reports on the internet claims that the price of Samsung B7722 would be around Rs. 23,000.

Samsung Wave 2 (S5250), Samsung Wave 2 Pro (S5330)
The Samsung Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro run on the Samsung open mobile platform Bada. Both the phones have a 3.2 inch LCD screen, 3MP camera with SD video recorder. The primary difference between the two phones is that Samsung Wave 2 is not QWERTY and does not have 3G support unlike Samsung Wave 2 Pro. They do support Wi-fi and also have A-GPS and Bluetooth 2.1. The phones also feature the Samsung TouchWiz 3.0 overlay, which provides social networking integration through Bada's Social Hub platform.

Samsung Wave 2 and Samsung Wave Pro 2 will be available in metallic black, pearl white and romantic pink colours. Samsung has announced in its press release that both phones will be available from August in Russia and South East Asia. The Indian release date and price is not yet announced.

Samsung Galaxy 3, Samsung Galaxy 5
The Galaxy 3 has a 3.2 touchscreen, while Galaxy 5 has a 2.8-inch touchscreen. Both the phones run on Android 2.1 and use Samsung's own TouchWiz 3.0 interface. Galaxy 3 has a better (3 megapixel) camera as compared to Galaxy 5 (2 megapixel). But when it comes to internet speed, the Galaxy 5 can surf net using 802.11n and HSDPA, at 7.2M bps, while the Galaxy 3 can surf net using 802.11n and HSDPA at 3.6M bps. Both phones have an FM-radio and can navigate using A-GPS (Assisted GPS), as well.

In the ongoing CommunicAsia2010 Samsung has announced that it will start shipping Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5 in July at the price expected around Rs. 13,700 and Rs. 12,000, respectively.

Samsung Galaxy Beam
Samsung Galaxy Beam is a very unique Android 2.1 based smartphone. It comes with pico projector, which can show images at the resolution of 640 x 480 pixel. Samsung Galaxy Beam has a 3.7-inch Super-AMOLED display. It has an 8-megapixel camera and can be used as a wireless access point.

Samsung Omnia Pro 4, Omnia Pro 5
The Omnia Pro 4 (B7350) and Omnia Pro 5 (B6520) run on Windows Mobile 6.5 and are branded more as a business phone by Samsung. The Omnia Pro 4 has a 2.6 inch touch screen and a full QWERTY keyboard. Omnia Pro 4 has dualband (900/2100) 3G and a 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera. The Omnia Pro 5 has triband (900/1900/2100) 3G, a 2.4-inch 320 x 240 display and a 2-megapixel camera. The press release claims that both have WiFi b/g, Bluetooth and  A-GPS. Also it has FM radio and a microSD card slot.

The release also says that the Samsung Omnia Pro 4 will be available from July in European Countries, CIS and South Eastern Asia and Omnia Pro 5 will be available from August in SEA, MEA regions, India and Latin America. The price is still not known for the Indian market.
