Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab almost simultaneously as the new Apple iPod lineup, hogging all the attention away from the big launch of the new iPod lineup.

Samsung surely has played its cards smart and cheeky with its launch of the Galaxy Tab- Android tablet right alongside the launch of the new Apple iPod lineup. With its crosshair focused squarely on the Apple iPad, Samsung has managed to build the right amount of hype, expectation and curiosity around the Galaxy Tab.

Google Trends reported Galaxy Tab as the hottest trends on 2nd September across the globe. Even as we report this, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is the fifth most searched term globally as per Google trends, ahead of the new Apple iPod Touch that sits on the seventh spot.

Going by Samsung's latest lineup of Android based smartphones including the popular Samsung Galaxy S, now with the Galaxy Tab, Samsung seems to be well poised to make a strong statement in the mobile space.

But, we do need to separate the hype from the facts. The Galaxy Tab can boomerang right back at Samsung if it fails to deliver on the most crucial aspect of a tablet device. Samsung Galaxy Tab will have to crack the toughest challenge of matching the Apple iPad in terms of user interface (UI), touchscreen performance and the overall response of the device.

The Apple iPad excels ahead of all tablet attempts made by various manufacturers till date to eat into the iPad market and unless the Galaxy Tab matches the iPad in UI and usability department, all those nifty features and latest hardware might just fall short. But, the Samsung Galaxy Tab is all the rage right now.
