Samsung Updates Galaxy S; Welcome the new Galaxy S Plus
17 Oct 2011
Samsung's ever-growing portfolio of Galaxy Android smartphones has received a new member in the form of the new Galaxy S Plus. However, unlike other models, the Galaxy S Plus isn't an entirely new phone but instead is an update to the very popular Galaxy S smartphone launched last year.
While most of the specs are still the same, the Galaxy S Plus receives upgrades in the form of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The Plus also has a slightly more powerful processor in the form of a 1.4GHz Scorpion Processor (the Galaxy S had a 1GHz processor). Samsung has also replaced the PowerVR SGX540 GPU with an Adreno 205 GPU. Another notable upgrade is in the battery and the Plus' battery receives a 150mAh boost over the Galaxy S' 1500mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy S Plus will soon be available in India for Rs. 22,000. The original Galaxy S is out of production but when we last checked it was still being sold for around Rs. 20,000 in some stores.
