Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 to get Android 2.1 upgrade by end of September
30 Aug 2010
Sony Ericsson UK twitted that the upgrade to Android 2.1 (Eclair) is coming end of September. Sony Ericsson still did not specify which X10 series will get the update, however, it is still a good news as whatever Xperia X10 phones they talked about is still running on the outdated Android 1.6.
For those of you who missed out the list of features that this Android 2.1 ( Eclair) will offer for your Android phone, here are a few changes you can expect. After upgrading toe Eclair, the phone is expected to run smoother as the Eclair will optimize the phone's hardware speed and the UI will also go through some changes though we are not sure for phones which have proprietary UI including the Xperia X10 line of phones. Earlier Android versions give only 3 Home screens while with the new upgrade (Eclair), there can be five Home screens now. Live wallpaper will also be supported. The browser will also get some facelift and will support HTML5. Google maps will get more feature and all text fields on your phone will support voice-to-text capabilities. New AppLauncher will also be included. With all these new features and many more on the way, looks like Xperia X10 users will get the taste of Eclair anytime soon. Though the Eclair is not the latest, we still think it's better late than never.
The Xperia X10 series consists of the Xperia X10, X10 mini, X10 mini pro and X8.
