Vodafone Promises iPhone 4 in India
09 Jun 2010
iPhone 4 was recently showcased by Apple in the WWDC 10 and will be soon launched in the U.S and other important markets worldwide. If Apple followers in India recall, the iPhone 3GS was just launched in India recently after a delayed launch of more than a year. Also, in terms of price it is available at almost double its US price in India with telecom operators Airtel and Vodafone.
Well, there is no good news in terms of price as we expect it to be definitely more than the current approx. Rs. 41,000 mark. However, Vodafone has confirmed that it will soon be launching iPhone 4 in India in the coming months. We also expect the prices of iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS to fall heavily in India as iPhone 4 beats the current iPhones in all fields.
Apple has not been focusing on India as a potential market. But soon 3G will be available for subscribers in India around September and this might change the situation completely. So if the prices are reasonable, Apple might just get a boost in sales from the fast-growing Indian mobile phone market.
The competition will be tough from other smartphones such as Motorola Milestone (Droid) and Nokia N900 which are now available in India at the price of Rs. 28,600 and Rs. 30,639, respectively. Will the iPhone 4 make it or break it in India? Only time will tell.
