WD Launches New External HDDs

Western Digital today unveiled a revamped range of external hard drives. The new range of products includes My Passport Elite featuring an illuminated capacity gauge and drive lock indicator; My Book Elite featuring a customizable e-label and My Book Studio featuring a customizable e-label and with FireWire 800 interface. All these 3 products feature automatic and continuous backup with WD SmartWare software and 256-bit hardware-based encryption.
According to a press release, the My Book Elite drives are offered in capacities of 1 TB, 1.5 TB and 2 TB and have a 3-year limited warranty. MSRP for the My Book Elite drives ranges from Rs 7,200 to Rs 13,400 depending on capacity. The My Book Studio drives are offered in capacities of 1 TB, 1.5 TB and 2 TB and have a 3-year limited warranty. MSRP ranges from Rs 7,450 to Rs 14,600 depending on capacity. The My Passport Elite drives are offered in capacities of 320 GB, 500 GB and 640 GB and have a 3-year limited warranty. MSRP ranges from Rs 5,500 to Rs 8,700 depending on capacity.
