Full Review

There's a new kid on the block with the latest Acer Aspire One netbook. It sports a larger 11.6-inch glossy screen, with a maximum screen resolution of 1366x768 and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Despite its larger screen size, the laptop is still pretty slim with less than an inch thick. Despite its larger form factor compared to the Asus Eee PC 1000HE, the Aspire One 751h weighs in exactly the same as the Asus at 1.38-kg.

On a conservative power plan, you can look forward to over 9 hours of usage before charging the Aspire One 751h's 6-cell battery again. Now that's mighty impressive.

And it's a pretty looking thing, the AO751h, with its black screen cover and grey metallic palmrest and touchpad. The Aspire One 751h's innards are similar to most netbooks out there: Intel Atom Z520 1.33-GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive. Performance is slightly slower than the Asus Eee PC 1000HE (winner of our netbook comparison in May 2009), with a WorldBench score of 29. Like other netbooks we've compared, doing regular things like surfing the Web, working on documents and spreadsheets, listening to music, etc., isn't an issue. Its larger chiclet-styled keyboard is a boon despite its netbook form factor, and Acer has even increased the size of the touchpad.

But the most exciting part of the Acer A0751h is its battery life. On full screen brightness and high performance mode, Battery Eater registered a time of 5 hours 36 minutes, while it managed 4 hours 46 minutes on the Eee PC 1000HE. On a conservative power plan, you can look forward to over 9 hours of usage before charging the 6-cell battery again. Now that's mighty impressive.

Bottom Line

With a unique 11.6-inch screen, the Acer Aspire One 751h impresses with its stylish design. Its keyboard is nice and big, and so is the touchpad. And with unparalleled battery life of over 9 hours, the Acer Aspire One 751h netbook is the best buy.
