The Asus Eee PC 1215T is a 12.1-inch netbook part of Asus' Seashell Eee PC netbook series. The Eee PC 1215T netbook has a 1.7-GHz AMD Athlon Neo II K125 processor and ATI Radeon HD 4250 graphics boasting of 1080p HD video playback.
Design The Asus Eee PC 1215T is like any other Eee PC we've reviewed recently -- like the Asus Eee PC 1201T or 10-inch Asus Eee PC 1018P. Part of Asus' Seashell Eee PC netbook series, the Eee PC 1215T has a streamlined design and feels nice to hold in the hand. The Eee PC 1215T has a brushed metal-like finish on its screen lid, which is silver in color. The same surface extends on to the palmrest and touchpad of the Eee PC 1215T netbook.
In terms of core hardware configuration, the Asus Eee PC 1215T is one of the best netbooks out there.
The two-toned black-on-silver color combo on the Asus Eee PC 1215T netbook looks really nice, but the netbook's glossy black piano finish around the 12-inch screen bezel and keyboard deck attracts a lot of fingerprints -- even dust specks stand out when accumulated on the keyboard. The Eee PC 1215T is of average build quality (not as good as the Sony VAIO M, Dell Inspiron Mini 10 or Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3) and with a six-cell battery weighs 1.47-kg, which is good for a 12-inch netbook.
Usability The Asus Eee PC 1215T comes with a glossy LED-backlit widescreen display with a 1366x768 pixel resolution. Nothing great about its screen compared to other netbooks in our Top 5 Netbooks list -- viewing angles are good although we would've liked the Eee PC 1215T's screen to be a bit brighter. Watching both movies and reading text is handled well by the able 12.1-inch screen of Asus Eee PC 1215T netbook.
The Eee PC 1215T's screen bezel also comes with a 1.3MP webcam with a sliding cover to protect it from dust. The webcam is good enough for videochats over the Web.
Using the Asus Eee PC 1215T's keyboard and touchpad isn't really great, though. First off, compared to the Eee PC 1210T, the Eee PC 1215T's keyboard is a step back -- important keys like Enter is smaller in size, the backslash key is placed near the left Shift button, and typing on the Eee PC 1215T's keyboard isn't up to par. The keyboard deck flexes and dips while typing on the Eee PC 1215T's keyboard while it's placed on a flat surface (e.g. office desk). Typing on the Eee PC 1215T's chiclet-keyboard isn't the same as on the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 or Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3.
No problems with the Eee PC 1215T's touchpad, though -- the response is nice and multiple gestures work just fine. Trouble starts with the Eee PC 1215T touchpad's single-strip mouse button -- most of the times you have to press left or right quite hard and the 'click' isn't smooth. Working with the mouse button takes its own learning curve, and it's generally underwhelming.
