The Buffalo Nfiniti Giga router has interesting split design—the three antennae are on a separate platform, connected to the router by a small cable. This allows you to position the antennae in many different ways till you get the best signal. Be careful with the connecting cable, though. The router is physically bigger than most of the others, almost dwarfing the Linksys WRT310 N when placed next to it. Buffalo has a rather strange web-interface that takes some getting used to. Unlike the others in our Top 5, it has very little help, and you do need to know a little bit to successfully set it up. The manual isn’t of much help, and we’d recommend that Buffalo redo their interface to bring it up to speed with the other manufacturers. Once set up, the router has good performance, and excellent range. This router does a great job of dealing with multiple clients. Some routers have trouble dealing with more than five or six simultaneous streams, but Buffalo handled these with aplomb. This, combined with the low price, ensured a good finish for the Buffalo Nfiniti Giga in our Top 5 list.

Bottom Line

Slightly slower than Netgear, and lacks some range, but quite good otherwise. The external antennae allow for creative placement.
