Printing out good quality photos in the comfort of your home is what this photo printer from Canon offers to do. While it did a fairly good job of printing photos, it was lacking a bit in the features department with some rather essential options missing. On the performance front, it was quite zippy while printing out photos – it took around 55 seconds for printing a 4x6 photo with quality set at the highest – quite impressive for a photo printer meant for home users. But it was on the slower side while printing out text pages at 10ppm (fast/draft) mode.

In the features department, it was a bit of a disappointment with the surprise omission of a media reader (which is definitely a must-have for a photo printer) and also a LCD screen.

Quality-wise, photos came out a bit grainy with a hint of tint and the detailing of certain areas could have been better. It did a very good job of printing out text pages with the print coming out black and crisp.

In the features department, it was a bit of a disappointment with the surprise omission of a media reader (which is definitely a must-have for a photo printer) and also a LCD screen; but it does come with a PictBridge port for printing out photos directly from a digital camera. A great feature is the option for printing out double-sided prints automatically (auto duplex) which can come in handy while printing in bulk. It has two input trays – one at the bottom of the printer which can accommodate only plain papers while the vertical tray at the back is for various media, including envelopes, photo paper, and legal-size paper.

It was a bit on the expensive side at Rs 8,155 for a printer which lacked some essential features. But the running cost was quite low with Rs 1.5 per page (black) which is impressive. So, all-in-all this is an above average photo printer which could have got a higher rating had it not been for its high pricing and scant features.

Bottom Line

A fast photo printer and gives decent quality photos that’s a bit expensive and also offers limited features.
