Intro, Features And Specs

After their first compact zoom, the PowerShot SX200, Canon PowerShot SX210 is the company's second compact and pocketable zoom camera. With an increased mega pixel count and longer zoom range, the PowerShot SX210 is one feature-loaded and nicely designed pocketable zoom cameras you can find in the market today.

Features and Specs
The Canon PowerShot SX210 is a 14.1 mega pixel camera with a 14x optically stabilized zoom lens that has a focal length ranging from 28mm to 392mm ( in 35mm parlance). It uses a 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor and Canon's latest DIGIC 4 Image Processor. There is no optical viewfinder, so composing and reviewing captured images is done on a 3-inch LCD screen that has 230k dots with an aspect ratio of 16:9. There is a pop up flash that has a range of up to 11.5ft at wide angle and up to 6.6ft for teleshoot.   The PowerShot SX210 also records 720p HD video at 30fps with stereo sound plus there is an HDMI-output. Its ISO speed ranges from ISO80 to ISO1600. The camera accepts SD, SDHC, SDXC memory card, MultimediaCard and MMCplus card.

The PowerShot SX210 features various set of shooting modes to make shooting easier for beginners like Smart Auto mode and Easy Mode. The Smart Auto mode works with Canon's latest Scene Detection that determines subject brightness, contrast, distance and overall hue. It has Face Tracking and Detection, Smile & Wink Self Timer. The Canon's advanced Face Detection Technology detects up to 35 faces in each frame. There are over 12 scene modes which includes the miniature and fish-eye effect like most of Canon's new compact cameras.

Fortunately, there is a full manual controlsfor shutterspeed and aperture size like Samsung WB600, Panasonic TZ8 and the Sony H55. However, the PowerShot Sx210 gives a slightly more wider range- with the aperture range starting from f/3.1 ( f/5.9 when zoomed) to f/8.0 and for the shutter speed, it ranges from 15sec to 1/3200 sec. There is a full range of shooting modes including the versatile P/A/S/M modes, and you also got various simpler automatic modes like Smart Auto and Easy Modes with direct access from mode dial for bunch of scene modes like Landscape, Kids & pets, Night Snapshot etc. There are three metering modes - evaluative, center-weighted average and spot-metering.
