Full Review

The FujiFilm F200 EXR was not the most compact in the comparison. Its slightly heavy form was soon justified as it packed a wide 28 mm wide angle lens with 5x optical zoom lens (with image stabilization). It also uses a bigger than normal 1/6-inch CCD sensor which is one of the reasons why it outclassed the Coolpix S570 and the Casio Exilim Z400 in low-light shooting. Fuji also included the EXR technology that is an intelligent auto mode with various options for users to alter settings like shutter speed and aperture to an extent. Control placement was convenient with all the mode dials and controls placed right next to the 3-inch LCD screen. The zoom ring around the shutter release button was a bit too sensitive and this made focusing a bit difficult. The menu interface also took a little getting used to.

During our tests, the F200 never lagged from focusing to capturing. Images were well saturated and had a great dynamic range. Images were very sharp in the middle but tended to be on the softer side towards the edges. Purple fringes were well controlled even in high contrast areas. In low lights, noise presence was barely noticeable till ISO 400, thanks to the EXR settings. Overall image quality was excellent with rich colors and great exposure. In low light, we noticed more artifacts than the two Sony cameras (WX1 and TX1) which is a downer but the output images are still above average quality. The image stabilization worked as well as the Sony WX1 and TX1. However, video recorded in VGA was average with poor frame rates and some noise occurrence. Priced at Rs. 17,990, the camera is definitely a good buy.

Bottom Line

The FinePix F200 has the best build quality and offers ample resolution. It is clearly an above average camera which shoots excellent images.
