Full Review
If there was ever a game-changing graphics card, this is it. ATI revolutionized the graphics card market when it launched the HD 4850 last year with excellent performance at an affordable price. A year later, the HD 4850 still remains a great card. HIS’s take on the HD 4850 sticks pretty close to the reference design and that means that it runs pretty hot. However, it runs making lesser noise than ATI’s reference card. The card has two DVI ports and a Video-Out port. It also needs a six pin power connector to function. Bundled with the card is the regular set of connectors, manuals and driver CDs.
ATI revolutionized the graphics card market when it launched the HD 4850 last year and more than a year later still remains a great card.
When it came down to our performance tests, we pretty much knew what the card had to offer and it delivered. It scored 13,813 marks in 3D Mark ’06 and 4,844 in 3D Mark Vantage. In gaming benchmarks, the card again performed well. In Crysis at 1680x1050, 4xAA and High settings, the card managed 26 fps. Similarly, at the same resolution with settings at Very High, the card produced 31 fps in Far Cry 2 and 30 fps in World in Conflict. In H.A.W.X. at the same resolution and High settings, the card was able to pump out 35 fps.
Overall, the HIS HD 4850 emerges as a sure-fire performer and at its price (Rs. 7,000), even after a year, it is a very good buy.
Bottom Line
A year ago, the HD 4850 blew us away with its performance, and the HIS HD 4850 still stands tall among the other cards.
