HP’s Color LaserJet Cp1215 is unlike most other color laser printers you get in the market. For one, it is quite inexpensive as color laser printers go and also churns out impressive photo quality color prints. On the flip side, it is not as fast as is expected from a laser printer.

It doesn’t offer much in terms of feature sets. It comes with standard laser printer features – USB interface, 150 pages input/output capacities, 600dpi resolution, 16 MB RAM manual duplexing, etc. It doesn’t come with direct network or Wi-Fi support.

It is quite inexpensive as color laser printers go and also churns out impressive photo quality color prints. On the flip side, it is not as fast as is expected from a laser printer.

The result in the quality test was a mixed bag of sorts. The color prints at default settings was not that great – a little too dark and the colors were not properly replicated — but with some tweaking with the settings, the result was very impressive — good details, vibrant colors, and bright images. Text printing was not as good as on a normal mono laser printer with the text prints a bit too light for our liking. But if you are okay with text prints that are slightly better than a normal inkjet printer, then it should do just fine.

As mentioned above, printing speeds are not as fast as you would expect – in fact it is quite slow for a laser printer. It took a minute to print out A4 color prints and text printing (normal mode) came out at 12ppm and spooling time took a long 30 seconds.

For a color laser printer, it is quite inexpensive at Rs 19, 899 and the running cost is reasonably low at Rs 1.8 per page (Black).

Bottom Line

If you are looking for an affordable color laser printer that can give photo prints comparable to an inkjet photo printer and you are not that concerned about printing speed, than you should go for the HP CP1215 printer.
