HP Photosmart D5468 Printer
2009-09-01Full Review
HP’s standalone photo printer produces good quality photos and also impressed in the speed department with a not so bad feature set. However, for a printer which comes for Rs 6,500, the absence of a copy and scan functionality pulled it down to second in the comparison.
In the photo printing department, the photos were printed out with HP’s own branded photo paper with the maximum dpi setting. The test showed overall good reproduction, with slightly higher color tint. The brightness/contrast and reproduction of details was also quite good. So ultimately, the final print that we got was comparable to photo studio quality which is quite impressive for a home photo printer.
A noteworthy feature of the Photosmart D5368 is the integration of a CD / DVD printing tray on which you can place printable CDs or DVDs and make labels.
When it came to text printing, it did a good job here too. We fired our text prints at normal quality, and the printout showed clean edges and a nice solid black. The print quality at normal mode is good enough to be presented anywhere. Highest text speed (draft mode) is rated at 33ppm for black and 31ppm for color text. During our tests, time to print was 15ppm with a spooling time of 17 seconds. Printing out 4x6in color photo print at maximum dpi setting took two minutes exactly.
A noteworthy feature of the Photosmart D5368 is the integration of a CD / DVD printing tray on which you can place printable CDs or DVDs and make labels. Other essential features for a photo printer are included like memory card reader for all standard formats, a separate photo tray and a LCD for preview.
The printing cost with the standard black cartridge is reasonably low, at about Rs.2.50 per print. If you are looking to take out good-quality photos and don’t mind the absence of copying/scanning functionality, this would be the printer to pick up.
Bottom Line
HP’s standalone photo printer produces good quality photos and also impressed in the speed department with a not so bad features set.
