If our ratings were solely subject to the level of anticipation for a product, the LG Optimus One P500 would shoot up to the very top of our Top 5 Android smartphones list. After all, the Optimus One is one of the most impressive phones on paper among mid-range Android smartphones. But like it’s mentioned countless times by Cricket commentators, it doesn’t matter how good it looks on paper, it’s the real-world performance that proves quality.
So, shall we see what the LG Optimus does IRL?
Features
At the time of writing this review, the LG Optimus One P500 is the only smartphone in the Rs. 10K to Rs. 20K category that comes with Android 2.2 (Froyo). So, what exactly does that mean? While there are plenty of advantages in terms of performance that Froyo unlocks, there are a couple of new cool features that you should know about. First up, Froyo lets you move installed applications to the SD card. So, if you don’t want to use up the Optimus One’s 170MB of internal storage with apps, you can move them to the microSD card. Keep in mind that this action is app specific and only certain apps will actually allow you to move them to the SD card. However, it still remains a great option to have. Another cool new feature is tethering, that lets you use the Optimus One as a wireless hotspot for other devices. So, if your Optimus One has 3G data connectivity enabled, other devices that support Wi-Fi can use the Net using your 3G network after you setup your Optimus One as a wireless hotspot.

A third important feature is the ability to disable data usage over your mobile network, which will help you curb your spending on data usage and will also save battery usage.
