Full Review
The Motorola ZN5 is the only phone in its category that bears a Xenon flash to complement its 5MP Kodak camera. It sports a candybar design and the body is made up of metal and rubber, all in all a subtle design trend. Its TFT screen measures 2.4 inches and is capable of displaying 256K colors at a resolution of 320x240. The screen might not be very flashy and bright but it gets the job done and retains visibility under almost any lighting condition.
The interface, albeit minimalistic, lets the phone down due to some major slowdown issues. Multitasking on this phone is a pain and playing any form of media leads to a visible lag in the interface. Also, although the phone features a tactile alpha numeric keypad, the absence of actual buttons can be annoying. However, the phone makes it up with dedicated volume keys and the very important 3.5mm headphones jack.
The 5MP Kodak camera impresses especially when shooting in macro mode. And when the lights went out, the Xenon flash made all the difference. Except for a little noise creeping into the images and somewhat average video recording, the ZN5’s camera does justice to its images. Playing music was a good experience since the ZN5 was able to churn out a balanced sound.
The phone features a comprehensive HTML browser which works efficiently but is only let down by the slow interface. Call quality was really good and the person on the other end sounded clear albeit a little soft.
The Motorola ZN5 is priced at Rs. 16,099 and is a very good imaging phone thanks to its 5MP Kodak camera and Xenon flash.
Bottom Line
The Motorola ZN5 boasts of Kodak optics and a Xenon flash thanks to which imaging is its forte.
