Nokia E71
2009-06-24Full Review
The Nokia E71, one of the slimmest and sleekest smartphones we’ve ever seen from Nokia is our top choice for a smartphone. The feature-packed E71 has a superb build quality and yet manages to pack in a full QWERTY keypad on its slim body. Its 2.36-inch screen is crisp and vibrant, thanks to the 16 million color support. From Web browsing to working on long documents, it was a pleasurable experience to use the E71. It executed daily business chores smoothly. Call quality was also great on this phone without much drop during calls. Its 369 MHz processor and the sufficient 128MB RAM let us multitask or even game without any issue. Apart from its110MB of internal memory, it came with a 2GB memory card. The Symbian s60 v3 with FP 1 OS offers many enhancements for better user experience. While handling Office documents, it offered a full-fledged Quick office suite as well as other utility apps. It also supports EDGE, 3G with HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity. Its built-in browser featured a mouse cursor for a better browsing experience plus full support for Java and Flash. It also has an MS Exchange Server support apart from regular IMAP and POP3 mails. The GPS feature using either the built in GPS chip or a-GPS with turn-by-turn and voice guided navigation took only a few minutes to get the signal fix and the Nokia map 2.0 worked flawlessly while driving or walking. For multimedia, there is a 3.2MP camera with auto-focus, a music player and FM radio. Audio quality via 2.5mm jack port is far from great even with decent set of headphones. Video, though was great on its sharp screen. Pictures we shot were noisy and lots of artifacts. For outdoors with sufficient lighting, you would be able to capture average quality images. With all the goodies it offers, the exceptional performance and striking design, the Nokia e71, topped the smartphone category.
Bottom Line
Smart looks and a commendable performance made the Nokia E71 the winner. Priced reasonably at Rs. 16,000, the E71 won’t disappoint if you are looking for a smartphone without compromising on features and performance.
