Full Review
Plantronics Voyager series of headsets are highly regarded bluetooth set of headsets for business and personal use. The latest Plantronic Voyager PRO also is a top-grade bluetooth headset that promised to deliver a loud and clear voice even when you are on a windy road or on a busy traffic.
Features & Design
Plantronics packed the Voyager PRO with the AudioIQ2 Technology which features 2 noise-cancelling mic and internal 20-band equalizer that automatically adjusts the headset to background noise to maintain a natural-sounding voice quality. To improve the voice communication and user-experience, there are technologies like WindSmart, QuickPair and Multipoint ( to pair the headset with two devices at the same time). The Voyager Pro has an internal battery that is residing at the back of the ear hook and is charged via microUSB port at the back,. The battery has a rated talk time of 6 hours, standby time of 5 days and 1.5 hours of charging time.
The Plantronics Voyager PRO is a bluetooth headset that has a functional design to meet the requirements of busy working professionals especially for those who are always on the move. The behind-the-ear design has its Lithium Polymer battery encased in arch body that goes at the back of the ear: this connects to the front flexible rubber with the extending boom mic . The headset is comfortable to wear and the earplug fits nicely inside the ear.  Further. it has a good build quality to help guard against everyday wear and tear. The ear hook has volume controls on the top, and microUSB charging port and paring button are at the back. The protruding boom arm rotates at 180 degree, so does the earphone which make the headset suitable to use it for either both left or right ear. A call management button is also found sitting on the hinge where the boom meets the earphone. There is nothing that would be much of an issue in terms of usage and design. The headset fits well, thanks to its flexible design and the three different sizes rubber tips included in the package. The package also included a charger and a car charger.
Call quality was great even in a noisy environment and here the AudioIQ2 really boosted up the sound quality.
Performance
After fully charging the headset, I paired the Voyager Pro with the iPhone 3GS running on the iOS4, I did not face any problem pairing with it. Other devices I paired with includes Blackberry Bold and Nokia XpressMusic 5800. For a complete list of devices support and pairing guide you can check out this link. Pairing happened quickly and the Voyager Pro offers good reception signal within its range. The headset does not always need to be in the line of sight and I did not face any drop in signal during my usage: signal dropping happened only when we reached beyond around 20 feet which is good enough for most usage.
Call quality was great even in a noisy environment and here the AudioIQ2 really boosted up the sound quality. Callers voice sounded rich and full and whether we used in either in the quiet or noisy environment we did not have any issue hearing what the callers said. The voice sounded natural and pleasant to our ears. We could hear a slight hiss in a quiet environment but the voice was still loud and clear.
Regarding microphone quality, callers on the other end did not have any problem hearing our voice and they were impressed with the voice quality even on a busy traffic where it was filled with honking horns and loud vehicle engines. We did not have to shout but raise our voice a little in a crowded place or while riding on a busy traffic, and here, the AudioIQ worked impressively.
Being a mono sound, Plantronics Voyager PRO is purely for voice communication. Just for a test, we streamed music from our phones and after hearing the music, we suggest you let the Voyager PRO handle only voice communication alone and not anything else. The battery lasted up to what it claimed ( 6 hours talktime) which is good enough for daily usage  .
Bottom Line
Purely for Voice communication, the Plantronic Voyager PRO priced at Rs. 4,199 is one excellent bluetooth headset that offers comfortable design and exceptional sound quality with effective noise cancellation.
