The Viewsonic PJD-5351 has a short-throw lens. This is a major advantage when you don’t have a large conference room, or you want to be able to use the projector in almost any room. Schools and universities will find this useful.

The short-throw lens can project a 100-inch diagonal image from five feet away. Since the projector has no zoom, you'll need to move the projector closer or farther from the screen to adjust image size. The PJD-5351 even has a setting for blackboard color compensation. Using this setting will alter the color balance of the projected image, in order to make it appear more natural when projected on to a blackboard.

The Viewsonic PJD5351's short throw lens allows you to use the projector in almost any room. Schools and universities will find this especially useful.

It also has settings for green- and whiteboards, which are more common in newer schools. The image quality was good, though there are a few short-comings inherent in using a short throw lens. There is a slight amount of fuzziness at the corners of the image, and the image is brighter in the center than at the edges. This is not an extreme problem, but it’s something to be aware of. Despite its small size, the PJD5351 has a very quiet exhaust fan. Even in high lamp mode, the projector does not create a lot of fan noise during operation.

This is a useful multi-purpose projector. It does a pretty good job of projecting video, as well. The short-throw lens makes it ideal for smaller offices.

Bottom Line

The short throw lens on this makes it ideal for smaller offices.
