The Zotac GTS 250 is the perfect example of a dark horse ending up impressing the hell out of everyone. We were so caught up by the high end graphics card wars between NVidia and ATI that this card passed under our radar among all the HD4890s and the GTX 295s.

The Zotac GTS 250 is based on the Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 reference design and has a core clock speed of 740MHz and a memory clock speed of 1100MHz. It is manufactured using a 65nm process and has 512MB of Video RAM. Out of the box, the Zotac card is encased in black plastic with heat vents and a fan on front. Nvidia rates the maximum power required by the card as 150W and that was the highest power requirement in the top 5. However, the GTS 250’s performance is quite enough to justify its power requirements.

The Zotac GTS 250 is the perfect example of a dark horse ending up impressing the hell out of everyone.

We started off our tests with 3D Mark Vantage and the card scored 8278 and 4957 marks in the Performance and High modes respectively. In the games tests, the GTS 250 continued its dominance; in Crysis, it managed a very playable 32 fps at 1920x1080 with Anti-Aliasing turned off and all settings at High. Similarly, in other games like Company of Heroes, World in Conflict and Far Cry 2, the Zotac clocked one of the highest fps as compared to the other cards.

Zotac has made sure that buyers appreciate the package as a whole since they bundle a game- XIII Century: Death or Glory, a copy of 3D Mark Vantage Advanced edition and a whole host of connectors and adaptors.

The Zotac GeForce GTS 250 is priced at Rs. 7,050 and frankly at that price, its a very impressive product. For gamers looking for that card which will serve them well in terms of value for money and pure performance, this card is a very good buy.

Bottom Line

Among cards below Rs. 10,000, the Zotac GTS 250 is definitely one of the best.
